Postdoctoral contract in the Liver Immuno-Oncology Group of the Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute.


The position focuses on liver diseases, including primary liver cancers (hepatocarcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma), exploring the aspects of etiopathogenesis, biology, immuno-oncology, and responses to new therapies from both a basic and translational research perspective.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. • Experimental design. Planning and development of experimental procedures with primary cultures and in vivo mouse models
  2. • Data collection and analysis. Effective coordination of data sets, with a focus on statistical and bioinformatics analysis
  3. • Bibliographic review and contextualization. Consistently staying updated with relevant scientific literature and contextualizing findings within the broader context of the research
  4. • Interdisciplinary collaboration. Close collaboration with team members and external researchers to foster an interdisciplinary approach and enrich the scientific perspective
  5. • Publication and communication. Drafting of high-quality scientific papers for publication in specialized journals Active participation in conferences and presentation of research results to the scientific community
  6. • Training and mentoring. Engaging in the training and mentorship of postgraduate students and trainees to foster a collaborative learning environment

Skills / Qualifications

Necessary Skills

Essential

• Graduate in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacy or biomedicine

• PhD in Biomedicine

• Animal experimentation training

• Publications as main author in JCR-indexed journals

Desirable

Experience:

• Extensive background of over 3 years in research groups (including internships, contracts, rotations, etc.)

• Track record of publications and presentations at health science conferences, preferably in the field of hepatobiliary diseases

• Proficiency in genetics and molecular biology techniques, including PCR, Western Blot, immunofluorescence, ELISA, etc. Experience with cell cultures, including primary cultures, transfection techniques for gene silencing and overexpression, and familiarity with animal experimentation and flow cytometry for the characterization of cell populations.

• Participation in competitive research projects funded by public-private entities

• Knowledge of bioinformatics and biostatistics (proficiency in software such as R, Python, etc.)

• Geographic mobility (experience abroad)

Specific Requirements

Proven language skills:

1. English level B2 or equivalent.

2. Basque level B2 or equivalent.

Other Distinctions

• Additional education in the biomedical research domain through participation in various forms of training, such as face-to-face or online courses, seminars, conferences, etc.

• Course in good clinical practices focusing on handling human biological samples

*A disability certificate of 33% or higher is a plus.
