Professor Carme Rovira is looking for one post-doc to work in computational glycobiology. They will be applying state-of-art computational methods to model enzymatic reactions and glycan-protein interactions, developing new algorithms, and applying them to the analysis of simulation data to aid drug discovery.


The position is available from February 1st, 2026 for a duration of 1 yesr (renewable until 31/01/2027). The position will be based at the Chemistry Department of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) in Barcelona, Spain.


Key Duties

• Conduct high-quality research

• Present research at national and international conferences and meetings

• Collaborate with various research groups across Europe and elsewhere

• Help supervise PhD and MSc students

• Participate in grant writing and organizational activities

• Participate in educational and outreach activities

Skills/Qualifications

  • • Highly motivated scientist with research background and expertise in Computational Chemistry, QM/MM and free-energy simulations;
  • • Plus: Biology background, sound understanding of carbohydrate chemistry and/or organic chemistry reactions;
  • • Plus: Experience in protein modelling, molecular dynamics and metadynamics simulations;

Additional skills:

  • • Experience in computational chemistry and enzyme-catalyzed reactions;
  • • Good publication record for the career stage;
  • • Fluency in spoken and written English;
  • • Good technical skills including at least two of the following: quantum chemistry methods, molecular dynamics, statistics, scripting and programming;

Specific Requirements

  • • At the time of recruitment by the host organisation, the candidates should have a PhD degree in Chemistry;
  • • The date of the PhD degree should be earlier than January 31st, 2026;
