About the position

A research position for one Research Grant (“Bolsa de Investigação Pós-doutoral“) is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project PhotonAI – Cutting-edge Photonic-Digital Hybrid Architecture for Next-Generation AI. This project is funded by FCT/MECI through national funds and when applicable co-funded EU funds under the 2024.14411.PEX project reference.

A postdoctoral researcher will be recruited within the scope of this project for a one-year period (100% full-time commitment) to make a significant contribution to the implementation of machine learning (ML) algorithms. The postdoc is expected to have proven experience in ML models and Python programming.

Work Objectives:

The main objective of this position is to develop, implement, and validate advanced machine learning methodologies within the scope of the project, ensuring their effective integration with the underlying physical and photonic systems. The researcher will focus on the implementation of ML models in Python, contributing to their optimization, scalability, and robustness. The researcher will support the integration of ML algorithms with hybrid photonic architectures, ensuring coherence between computational models and experimental results. Through close collaboration with the project team, this work aims to strengthen the interaction between modelling, algorithm development, and system-level implementation, thereby enhancing the overall scientific and technological impact of the project.
