Postdoctoral Research Fellowship – DRIVOLUTION Agenda (PRR, Portugal)

Expressions of interest are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship under the proMetheus – Research Unit in Materials, Energy and Environment for Sustainability, funded by the project AGENDA DRIVOLUTION – Transition to the Factory of the Future, within the framework of the Mobilizing Agendas for Reindustrialization of the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The research activities will be carried out in Portugal, at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), and will be integrated mainly in the following work packages:

Research Areas

Postdoctoral fellows will be integrated into multidisciplinary R&D teams working in one or more of the following areas:

1. Computational mechanics and intelligent control of flexible and collaborative robotic systems;
2. Multifunctional and intelligent robotic links, joints, and mechatronic subsystems;
3. Thermal and fluid dynamics analysis of advanced and additively manufactured robotic components;
4. Computer vision and artificial intelligence for collaborative robotic environments;
5. AGV and intelligent logistics systems for final dispatch and industrial feeding.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Materials Science, Computer Science, or related fields, obtained prior to the start of the fellowship. International candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Fellowship Conditions

Type of fellowship: Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (BIPD)
Duration: 6 months (eventually renewable)
Expected start date: January 2026
Host institution: Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), proMetheus Research Unit
Workplace: proMetheus facilities at the School of Technology and Management (ESTG-IPVC), Portugal
Monthly maintenance allowance: €1,851.00, paid by bank transfer, in accordance with the IPVC fellowship grant table in force
Social security: fellowship holders may voluntarily subscribe to the Portuguese voluntary social security scheme, in accordance with national regulations
Tax status: fellowships are governed by the Portuguese Research Fellowship Statute

Access to laboratory, computational, and experimental infrastructure of the proMetheus research unit
Integration into multidisciplinary R&D teams with strong academic–industrial collaboration
Participation in scientific dissemination activities, including technical reports, journal publications, and conference communications, within the scope of the project
