9. Evaluation methods:

9.1. The selection methods are as follows: curricular assessment (AC – abbreviation in Portuguese) with a weighting of 60% and, optionally, complemented by an interview (ENT – abbreviation in Portuguese) with a weighting of 40%, which will only take place when the Jury considers that the AC does not allow it to clarify, in the intended manner, the real competences of the candidates or to distinguish which candidate is best suited to the position and functions to be performed. If this is the case, the interview will be carried out with the 3 (three) candidates best classified in the AC.

9.2. Each member of the Jury will assess the selection methods on a scale of 0 to 100 points.

9.3. The criteria and weighting factors for the curricular assessment (AC) are:

a) Final classification of the degree course in Communication Design, Graphic Design or Digital and/or Multimedia Design (from 0 to 40 points):

  • Grades from 10 to 12 values – 10 points.
  • Grades from 13 to 14 values – 20 points.
  • Grades from 15 to 17 values – 30 points.
  • Grades from 18 to 20 values – 50 points.

If the candidate holds two degrees in the mentioned areas, the higher score will be attributed to only one of them.

b)Demonstration of experience in illustration in the graphic novel or comics component, presented in portfolio and curriculum (from 0 to 50 points):

  • Not very relevant – 5 points.
  • Sufficient – 10 points.
  • Good – 15 points.
  • Very good – 30 points.
  • Excellent – 45 points.
  1. Letter of motivation including a brief description referring to the conditions of preference in the field of illustration in graphic novel or comics, and mentioning immediate availability (from 0 to 10 points).

9.4. The interview (ENT), should it be held, is based on a presentation made by the candidate about their work, lasting a maximum of 10 minutes, clarifying aspects related to their academic and professional background. The interview assessment criteria are explained below, and will be weighted as indicated (0 to 100 points):

E1. Aspects related to the work carried out (up to 60 points):

  1. The ability to describe the work carried out, in training and/or professionally, evaluates the ability to express oneself and discursive fluency (up to 30 points).
  2. Demonstration of involvement in other teams or work groups evaluates the candidate's behaviour in terms of relationship and spirit of collaboration (up to 30 points).

E2. Other relevant aspects for the development of the activity (up to 40 points):

  1. The motivation for developing communication and dissemination activities is evaluated based on professional awareness and ambition (up to 20 points).
  2. The motivation for involvement in research activities in the field of design evaluates the impact of the grant on the applicant's future work (up to 20 points).

9.5. The candidates may ask the President of the Jury to authorise their interview to be conducted by videoconference, stating the reasons for this.

9.6. Failure to attend the interview stage of the selection process is equivalent to withdrawing from the competition, and applicants will be excluded from the competition.

9.7. The Final Classification (CF - abbreviation in Portuguese) will be obtained by applying the following formula: CF = (0,6×AC) + (0,4×ENT). If there is no interview, CF = AC.

9.8. This competition is intended exclusively to fill the vacancy indicated. In the event that no candidate demonstrates that they have the profile required to fulfil the work plan described above within the scope of this project, the Jury reserves the right not to award the position.

10. Selection panel:

Chair – Sílvia Simões (Associate Professor, integrated researcher of i2ADS).

1st effective member – Júlio Dolbeth (Assistant Professor, i2ADS collaborating member).

2nd effective member – Cristina Maria da Silva Pinto Ferreira Fonseca (Assistant Professor, i2ADS integrated member).
