UiT The Arctic University of Norway has established «The Arctic MSCA-PF program» (uit.no/arcticmsca) to recruit excellent young researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skƚodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue a career in research. We invite applications from promising young researchers within the field of Engineering/Physics/Technology - Agrivoltaics. The selected candidate will write a proposal for a 24-month MSCA-PF at UiT together with Assoc. Prof. Clara Good as supervisor.

This call is one of 33 from pre-selected supervisors at UiT The Arctic University of Norway through the “Arctic MSCA-PF program”. Successful postdoc candidates will be invited for a two-day MSCA-PF symposium June 10-11, 2026 (hybrid physical/digital event, see details at https://uit.no/arcticmsca/programstructure). At this event, the candidates will present their past research achievements, discuss future plans with their potential supervisor and learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF application. The selected candidates will, jointly with the supervisor, write the MSCA-PF application by the deadline of September 9, 2026.

In this call we search for talented, young researchers within the field of Agrivoltaics, as presented by Assoc. Prof. Clara Good:

Climate change and increased geopolitical tension has underscored the need to develop more resilient societies. Establishment of secure and reliable access to food and energy supply is central to this development, but must not be achieved at the expense of the environment or biodiversity.

This project will investigate whether combining solar energy and agricultural activities, so called agrivoltaics, can contribute to a more resilient agricultural sector in Arctic Norway.

Agrivoltaic systems are gaining increasing interest, especially in Southern Europe, as they can enable dual use of the same area. In addition, they can provide electricity supply and an extra income for farmers.

There are so far few examples of agrivoltaics systems further north. Several factors make the establishment of agrivoltaics more challenging in the Arctic, including harsh weather conditions, remote locations, and a relatively small agricultural sector.

We are currently establishing a small agrivoltaic pilot system in Tromsø. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who can contribute to knowledge development in one or more of the following areas:

- Data analysis and practical experiences from the pilot system

- Evaluation of crops suitable for agrivoltaics in the Arctic

- Creating favorable agricultural microclimates using agrivoltaics

- Economics and business cases for agrivoltaics in the Arctic

Please send your CV (max 3 pages) and describe a research project that will strengthen and complement the presented research (max 2 pages) to clara.good@uit.no by Feb 16th 2026. Mark your application "Arctic MSCA". Successful candidates will be contacted in late March 2026.

Eligibility criteria

  • • Supported fellows must be in possession of a doctoral degree at the time of the call deadline. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree are also eligible to apply.
  • • At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not count towards the amount of research experience. Find Self-Assessment Tool to calculate your eligibility here.
  • • Recruited researchers must comply with the following mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
