UiT The Arctic University of Norway has established «The Arctic MSCA-PF program» (uit.no/arcticmsca) to recruit excellent young researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skƚodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue a career in research. We invite applications from promising young researchers within the fields of Medical Sciences/Biological Sciences/Ethics in Health Sciences/Ethics in Social Sciences/Psychological Sciences. The selected candidate will write a proposal for a 24-month MSCA-PF at UiT together with Researcher Susanna Ragnhild Andersdatter Siri as supervisor. This is an opportunity to accelerate your research career while living in the urban research city of Tromsø.

This call is one of 33 from pre-selected supervisors at UiT The Arctic University of Norway through the “Arctic MSCA-PF program”. Successful postdoc candidates will be invited for a two-day MSCA-PF symposium June 10-11, 2026 (hybrid physical/digital event, see details at https://uit.no/arcticmsca/programstructure). At this event, the candidates will present their past research achievements, discuss future plans with their potential supervisor and learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF application. The selected candidates will, jointly with the supervisor, write the MSCA-PF application by the deadline of September 9, 2026.

In this call we search for talented, young researchers within the fields of Medical Sciences/Biological Sciences/Ethics in Health Sciences/Ethics in Social Sciences/Psychological Sciences with a special interest in Epidemiology and/or Public Health, as presented by dr. Susanna Ragnhild Andersdatter Siri:

I am Fimbenáilluánte-Susanna, a Northern Sami researcher from a reindeer herding community. I hold a Ph.D. epidemiology from 2021, specifically on the risk of cardiovascular diseases in Sami and non-Sami populations. I work at the Centre for Sami Health Research, where I manage the biobank component of the SAMINOR Study, a population-based survey that holds the only source of Sami self-reported ethnicity data spanning generations. In my work with SAMINOR Survey, I have gained interest in Indigenous data sovereignty and protection, leading to my engagement with the Global Indigenous Data Alliance (GIDA) and to co-founding a Nordic Sami data sovereignty network. Currently, I am involved in making Sami data visible in the Global Biodiversity Infrastructure Facility wherein my focus is on how to include and acknowledge Sami traditional knowledge within the infrastructure. Moreover, my academic interests also concern stress and how and what resilience factors help mitigate health challenges in Sami communities, particularly in the context of being a minority, exposed to climate change and land loss.

Please send your CV (max 3 pages) and describe a research project that will strengthen and complement the presented research (max 2 pages) to susanna.r.siri@uit.no by Feb 16th, 2026. Mark your application "Arctic MSCA". Successful candidates will be contacted in late March 2026.

Eligibility criteria

  • • Supported fellows must be in possession of a doctoral degree at the time of the call deadline. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis but who have not yet formally been awarded the doctoral degree are also eligible to apply.
  • • At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not count towards the amount of research experience. Find Self-Assessment Tool to calculate your eligibility here.
  • • Recruited researchers must comply with the following mobility rule: they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
