A position is now open for the attribution of 2 Research Grant (BI) under the funding of Advanced Plant Cultivation System: Enhancing In Vitro Techniques with Automation and Robotics (projeto nº 18307) financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the COMPETE2030 Programme, under the following conditions:


Work Plan and Objectives to Reach – The work to be carried out will aim at researching and developing computer vision and machine/deep learning algorithms to be used in a dynamic collaborative robotics platform for in vitro plant propagation, namely blueberry and olive trees.


Scholarship Duration: this scholarship will last for 12 months, from February 2026 to the end of the project.


Application Formalization: candidates must submit their applications through a cover letter stating their reasons to aply, accompanied by a detailed Curriculum Vitae, a copy of the qualifications certificate, tabling curricular units (subjects) and respective grades, proof of course attendance and a copy of the identification document. All the documents must be sent in pdf.


Application Term and Submission conditions: the applications must be sent by email to jobs@ccg.pt, during the admission period, which ranges from 02nd to 13th of February, 2026. The reference BI/26_006_APCSystem_CVIG VC must be indicated somewhere in the email body or subject.

Skills/Qualifications

Scientific Area: Computer Vision

Admittance requirements:

  • • Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics or a related area. On the date of recruitment, candidates must provide proof of enrolment (issued by the Academic Services of the Higher Education Institution) in a Master's degree in the Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related area.

Priority will be given to candidates with:

  • • Knowledge of computer science;
  • • Programming skills in Python and C++;
  • • Basic knowledge of Artificial Intelligence techniques as Machine Learning e Computer Vision;
  • • Knowledge of Deep Learning (i.e., Pytorch, Tensorflow, JAX) and Computer Vision (e.g., OpenCV, MATLAB) frameworks/toolboxes;
  • • Basic knowledge to develop and deploy edge computing services will be considered a plus.
