LIP – Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics opens an international call for the recruitment of a Junior Researcher (PhD holder) within the scope of the FCT exploratory project “Anomalous collective modes in Weyl semimetals”, Ref. 2023.15319.PEX, funded by FCT (Budget State).

Work plan:

The AnWSM project aims to study novel collective modes in systems with ultrarelativistic spectrum and cross-field applications of high energy physics and condensed matter techniques. In particular, one of the major goals of the project is to search for potential experimental tests to probe these modes and related phenomena. A promising class of such novel observables is based on generalized energy correlators as tools to investigate quantum many-body systems and their emergent properties, and the work under this contract will focus on:

• • The definition and theoretical study of generalized energy–energy correlators, including fractional energy extensions, as probes of many-body dynamics;
• • The analysis of scaling properties, asymptotic behaviour, and correlation structures of these observables in different physical regimes;
• • Applications to models inspired by heavy-ion collisions and condensed-matter systems, exploring common methodologies and conceptual analogies across many-body settings;
• • The development of analytical and phenomenological methods for the physical interpretation of the results.

The work will be carried out at LIP – Lisbon, within the Phenomenology group activities, lead by Dra. Liliana Apolinário

Legislation:

The contract will be established in accordance with Decree-Law nº 57/2016 of August 29, amended by Law nº 57/2017 of July 19, which regulates the employment of PhD holders to promote scientific and technological employment.

Duration:

The contract has a foreseen 6-month duration.
