The distinctive features of event cameras over conventional cameras such as low energy consumption and latency, high dynamic range and asynchronous sensing, has contributed to a surge in datasets and methods that employ event cameras for human-centred applications, namely, for action, facial expression and gesture recognition. In contrast to the intrusive aspects of conventional video recording, an event-camera based solution can be better leveraged for preserving user anonymity. The research challenge to be addressed consists in counterbalancing methods able to reconstruct videos from event streams without compromising performance in human movement perception.
