We are seeking a motivated and skilled biologist/biotechnologist post-doc to join the research group of Prof. Enrico Tiacci at the Institute of Hematology and Center for Hemato-Oncology Research in the University and Hospital of Perugia, Italy.

The focus of Prof. Tiacci's group is to clarify thepathogenesis of human lymphomas and leukemias (in particular Hodgkin lymphoma and hairy cell leukemia), and to translate this knowledge in the clinic by developing new precision diagnostic and therapeutic tools (as exemplified by recent publications in top journals, e.g. Tiacci et al., NEJM 2011; Tiacci et al, Blood 2012; Tiacci et al., NEJM 2015; Pettirossi et al., Blood 2015; Tiacci et al., JCO 2017; Tiacci et al., Blood 2018; Tiacci et al, NEJM 2018; Tiacci et al, NEJM 2021; Venanzi, …, and Tiacci. Blood Cancer Discov 2021; Tiacci et al., NEJM 2023; Falini and Tiacci, NEJM 2024; Santi, …, and Tiacci, NEJM 2025).

Prof. Tiacci's group is located in the new Center for Hemato-Oncology Research, a large building with outstanding design, state-of-the-art laboratories and technology platforms that is strategically located next to the Institute of Hematology, a major tertiary care academic hematological clinic in central Italy acting as a reference center also for other parts of the country and from abroad. The project will be carried out in a stimulating biology- and molecular medicine-oriented research environment shared with multiple principal investigators capable of consistently attracting several important national and international grants, including including from the European Research Council and the Leukemia & Lymphoma society. All equipment needed for state-of-the art genomic, cellular and molecular investigations is available and accessible within the building, as are key core facilities including deep sequencing, flow cytometry cell sorting and hematopathology.

The candidate should have a PhD or equivalent research experience. He/she should be an enthusiastic, creative, proactive, problem-solving, independent thinker and collaborative person with a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular and cellular biology methods, as well as previous experience in the field of cancer pathogenesis (preferably hematological cancers). Furthermore, familiarity with (epi)genomic techniques (e.g., RNA/DNA-seq, ChIP, Cut&Run, chromosome conformation capture-seq) is a plus.

The candidate should also have a very good command of English and the capacity of quickly mastering the literature on the topic, autonomously proposing and designing experiments, interpreting and presenting the data, collaboratively interacting with the other members of Prof. Tiacci's group that have different, complementary expertises (including bioinformatics), as well as writing scientific reports, papers and grant/fellowship applications.
