Riga Stradiņš University invites applications for a Researcher position (one vacancy) at the Institute of Microbiology and Virology to join the research group of a tenured professor in the natural sciences.


Everyday work

  • • Conducting experiments
  • • Analysing results obtained
  • • Participation in developing and maintenance of laboratory infrastructure
  • • Participating in scientific discussions
  • • Preparing scientific publications
  • • Participating in the preparation of research projects


Skills/Qualifications

  • • A PhD in natural sciences or a closely related field
  • • A record of previous scientific publications relevant to the field
  • • Experience working with methods used in molecular biology, immunology, and cancer biology
  • • Preference will be given to candidates with prior, proven expertise in flow cytometry, the purification and characterization of monocytes and macrophages, mammalian cell culture, and mitochondrial biology
  • • Ability to independently plan experiments, experience in research work
  • • Excellent command of the English language
  • • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with good communication and cooperation skills
  • • Initiative and a strong sense of responsibility in performing professional tasks
