ANNOUNCES VACANCY

For the appointment to:

The vacant associate position of senior assistant in Humanities, field of Philology, branch of Theory and History of Literature, at the Section of Literary Theory of the Department of Croatian language and literature, for a fixed term (until 30 November 2027 at the latest), on a full-time basis, for work on the project “Modern Croatian Anti-War Literature” (UIP-2025-02-6690) led by Asst. Prof. Zvonimir Glavaš – 1 employee (m/f)

Along with a signed application, the applicants need to enclose:

• • a signed CV (maximum 1 page long)
• • a certificate from the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) containing information on the applicant from their database (e-radna knjižica; electronic employment record)
• • a copy of a certificate proving the level of education required and/or the obtained academic title
• • bibliography and offprints of articles pertinent to the appointment, and a detailed presentation of scientific, teaching, and professional activities
• • a certificate stating that the applicant’s diploma acquired abroad has been approved by the Croatian authorities
• • a copy of a certificate proving any previous selection to an academic title
• • proof of citizenship; foreign citizens need to enclose a certificate of proficiency in the Croatian language (advanced level)

CV, bibliography, and information on scientific, teaching, and professional activities must be submitted electronically (on a USB flash drive).

All materials must be supported by appropriate documentation (papers, documents, and other evidence must be submitted in PDF format).

Conditions:

Applicants (m/f) are expected to meet the requirements prescribed by the Science and Higher Education Act (as published in Narodne novine, no. 119/22).

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Croatian studies, comparative literature, or other related branches in the field of philology. 

A person may be employed in the position of senior assistant if they have been engaged in scientific research for up to ten years (counted from the enrolment in the doctoral programme). This period may be extended in cases involving maternity or parental leave or long-term illness, either before or after obtaining the doctoral degree. The specified 10-year period does not include the time during which the candidate was not employed within the research sector (e.g., employment in the private sector). 

A senior assistant may be employed in a single Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) project for a maximum of two years. If the senior assistant has previously been employed in the associate position of senior assistant, the total period of salary funding may not exceed four years, including employment within an HRZZ project.

The applicants who claim priority in employment in accordance with special regulations are required, in accordance with those regulations, to submit the prescribed documentation.

The deadline for submitting the application is 30 days, starting from the day the vacancy announcement was last published in “Narodne novine” (“The Official Gazette”).
