A research position (fellowship under TÜBİTAK joint project) is available under the Mechanical Characterization Laboratory (MCL) led by Prof. B. Erdem Alaca at Koç University, Istanbul. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary project focused on the development of next-generation miniaturized gas sensing technologies based on advanced nanostructured materials and semiconductor devices for environmental monitoring and smart sensing applications.

The project involves the design, fabrication, integration, and characterization of novel sensing platforms with the goal of improving sensitivity, selectivity, stability, and energy efficiency. The research combines nanotechnology, microfabrication, materials science, and electrical characterization, providing the candidate with the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art cleanroom and laboratory environment.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Nanotechnology, Chemistry, or a related field, and must be within five years of obtaining their doctoral degree at the time of application. A strong interest in experimental research and scientific problem-solving is expected. Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an advantage: micro/nanofabrication, semiconductor device characterization, sensor technologies.

The successful candidate will collaborate with researchers from different disciplines and contribute to the development, fabrication, and testing of advanced sensing devices. Depending on experience and interests, the work may also include numerical modeling, data analysis, and participation in the supervision of junior researchers and students. Therefore, good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are highly desirable.
