The Institute of Philosophy invites applications for a Research Associate position in the field of philosophy at its Department of Theoretical Philosophy. The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis and will contribute to one of the Institute’s ongoing research projects (Projects - Institute of Philosophy). Continued employment is subject to periodic performance reviews and promotion procedures.

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements prescribed by Croatian legislation governing higher education and research, as well as the national criteria for appointments to research positions. They must also satisfy the additional criteria for research appointments established by the Institute of Philosophy. Details of these criteria are available on the Institute’s website.

Applications for the Research Associate position should include:

• • a curriculum vitae, including a description of the applicant’s previous research activities;
• • a list of publications;
• • proof of the award of a doctoral degree (PhD);
• • evidence of meeting the national eligibility criteria for appointment to a research position (https://narodne-novine.nn.hr/clanci/sluzbeni/2026_04_42_506.html);
• • evidence of meeting the additional criteria for appointment to research positions at the Institute of Philosophy (Regulation on additional criteria for selection to scientific positions - Institut za filozofiju);
• • at least three research publications published or accepted for publication within the last five years;
• • a motivation letter; and
• • a five-year research plan, including a plan for research in Croatian philosophy.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with the selection committee. They will also be required to give a 30-minute presentation before the Scientific Council of the Institute of Philosophy on a topic related to their current research and to present their proposed research plan for the appointment period.

The successful candidate will be employed subject to a six-month probationary period.
