FunNanoSurf is a multidisciplinary group based at the ICMAB (Spain) interested in the integration of molecules as active elements in nano-/micro-devices with the goal of developing functional molecular-based platforms for electronic and/or sensing applications. We are looking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow to create functionalized graphene-based field-effect transistors. The postdoctoral fellow will oversee the design, fabrication and characterization of GFETs and their functionalization with a family of different molecular systems for their combining use as sensors/light-responsive electronics, as well as the analysis and treatment of the experimental data. Electronic transport measurements of GFETs will be performed in a probe station under various environmental conditions to assess their efficiency and robustness as electronic sensors. The devices will be prepared using molecular-based materials as active components, an area in which the group has extensive experience. A key aspect of the project is the functionalization of graphene electrodes. We thus seek a candidate with excellent nanofabrication skills, who ideally has a background in graphene nanotechnologies and who can drive the research at the interface between physics and engineering. The postdoctoral fellow will join a lab that actively collaborates with other international groups, and hence research that stays at other institutions will be part of the project. This position offers a unique opportunity to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research and the postdoctoral fellow is expected to publish her/his results in leading journals.

Requirements For this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in experimental physics and nanofabrication. Applicants should have the following qualifications: 

● PhD in experimental physics / electronic engineer 

● Expertise in electronic transport measurements 

● Knowledge of FETs fabrication 

● Data analysis and programming skills 

● Good communication and organizational skills 

● Strong publication record 

● Ability to work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams 

● Fluent in English
