A contract for a VLSI designer on the following project: PID2024-158410OB-I00 ‘PRObabilistic Computing: From Molecular Exploration to Edge Operations (PROMETEO)’, funded by the Spanish National Research Agency within the framework of the 2024-2027 National Plan for Scientific and Technical Research, and Innovation, where the UIB is the beneficiary institution.

The successful candidate will take part in designing, simulating and validating digital integrated circuits within the scope of the project, with a particular focus on stochastic computing and implementing hardware-efficient neural architectures.

Their responsibilities will include RTL design, logic synthesis, functional verification and power-performance optimisation for CMOS technology.
 

The position is framed within the following research areas on the project:

(i) Designing and implementing digital systems based on stochastic hardware for ultra-fast processing of molecular databases.
 

(ii) Edge computing with FPGA and VLSI designs to develop new methodologies for implementing artificial intelligence operating at the edge.

The contract is aimed at candidates with backgrounds in electronic, computer or telecommunication engineering, with experience or an interest in VLSI design, advanced digital systems and hardware optimisation for artificial intelligence applications.
