A postdoctoral position focusing on antimicrobial-induced stress in bacteria is available at University of Tartu, Estonia. 

The Research group on microbe- and material interactions (https://tymri.ut.ee/en/content/microbe-material-interactions-research-group) is looking for a motivated and independent post-doc to work on evolution and physiological responses of bacterial cells to antimicrobial stress. The research group of about 10 people involves microbiologists, material scientists and chemists, and mainly focuses on efficacy testing, mode of action studies and physiological and evolutionary responses of microbes to antimicrobial materials and surfaces. The recruited post-doctoral fellow is expected to contribute mainly to research on physiological responses in bacterial cells, including development and testing of reporter systems, transcriptomic and proteomic responses but also on the analysis of microbiome on antimicrobial surfaces. The exact topic depends on the interest of the post-doctoral candidate.

Candidate profile:

We are looking for a positively minded, motivated, independent and dynamic post-doctoral candidate. Previous experience in microbiology, methods of molecular microbiology, and some level of understanding on bioinformatics methods would be of advantage. The candidate is expected to contribute both experimentally and intellectually to the performance and development of the research group. The candidate should be proficient in English both in writing and speaking. 

The post-doctoral position is open from 01.01.2025 and after that until the position will be filled. Due to the end of the financing scheme, the end of the recruitment is 30.08.2027.

The post-doctoral fellow will be employed at University of Tartu as a researcher and EU citizenship or living permit would easen the employment process.
