- main mission:

Hybridization is emerging as a major force in the evolutionary history of cultivated plants and their adaptation (Freitas et al., 2021, Burgarella et al., 2018, Yang et al., 2023). This process of introgression helps adaptation to high latitude in maize (Yang et al., 2023), to West Africa climate in pearl millet (Burgarella et al., 2018), and to the Western Europe environment of grapevine, notably in the Iberian Peninsula (Freitas et al., 2021). In grapevine, introgression may have enabled cultivated grapes to rewire water usage signaling and response pathways quickly. This most likely enabled grapevine to be cultivated at higher latitudes (Northwestern and North Iberian Peninsula, France, Germany, etc), moving away from the historically and genetically established model of an initial spreading across the Mediterranean basin (Dong et al., 2023). The position aim to study hybridization and adaptive introgression in plants. 

- activities:

Bioinformatic data analysis of NGS sequences (~800-1000 genomes).

Data analysis of diversity and population structure, as well as characterization of introgression patterns at the genome level.

Inference of hybridization process and timing using models, and also detection and characterization of selective sweeps and their adaptive value.

Publication and communication of results.

The net salary is €2,270 month
