Recruitment is carried out in order to employ an assistant professor (post-doc) to carry out scientific tasks in the project of the National Science Center SONATA BIS 13 The right to bodily and mental integrity in the era of biomedicine and neurotechnologies – an integrative bioethical analysis". The appointment will be at the level of assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, for the period of 24 months.


The person employed at the post-doc position will be co-responsible for the realization of the project module on the right to mental integrity in the age of biomedicine and neurotechnology.

This module includes the following research tasks:

  • Review of theoretical literature, relevant regulatory documents and/or empirical studies on mental integrity.
  • Philosophical and conceptual analysis of the categories of mental integrity. 
  • Ethical analysis of the content and justification of the right to mental integrity in the context of other recognized ethical principles and human rights, as well as the results of research on the lived experience of integrity.
  • Ethical analysis of the scope, strength, and limitations of the right to mental integrity in the context of selected cases of integrity violations, especially in the field of bio-medicine and neurotechnology.

In addition, this person will be involved in research aimed at developing an integrated concept of the right to physical and mental integrity of the person.


The duties of the person employed at the post-doc position will include

  • Completing the above research tasks in a timely and accurate manner according to the work plan agreed upon with the Principal Investigator. 
  • Participate regularly and actively in research team meetings. Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and other team members to exchange and develop knowledge and work together on research tasks and publications. 
  • Publication of research results in recognized international scientific journals and books/volumes. A postdoc is expected to be the first author of at least one scientific manuscript in the first year of participation in the project and at least two manuscripts in each subsequent year of participation in the project.
  • Presentation of research results at major international and national conferences and scientific seminars. A post-doc is expected to attend at least one international conference each year of participation in the project.
  • Participation in the collection, analysis, archiving, and dissemination of data from a systematic/integrative review of the literature (if conducted).
  • Participation in the organization of activities to promote and disseminate the results of the project, including conferences and seminars. 

The post-doc position does not involve any teaching duties, but those who are willing will have the opportunity to gain such experience. 


The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements set out in:

  • Article 113 of the Law of July 20, 2018 on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, consolidated text), and the Statute of the University of Warsaw (Monitor UW of 2019 r. pos. 190 with amendments)[1], and 
  • the Regulations on awarding funding for research tasks funded by the National Science Centre as regards research projects[2]
