A competition is open for the award of 2 Postdoctoral Fellowship(s) (BIPD) in the areas of electrical engineering or computer engineering for the R&D institution GECAD (GECAD–EEA/00760), SATCOMM Project (Ref: EAPA_0019/2022, co-financed by the INTERREG ATLANTIC AREA 2021-2027 Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The following conditions apply to this recruitment process:

2. REQUERIMENTS OF ADMISSION
Requirements: On the date of application, hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or similar field with a degree obtained less than 3 years ago, experience and motivation for mathematical modelling, development of computer applications and knowledge of spoken and written English. Have 3 articles published in a journal.

Preferred profile: Good ability to work in a team and motivation to develop computational applications, such as software and algorithms for advanced optimization of microgrids and energy communities. Experience in programming languages such as Python, Julia, MATLAB. Knowledge of OPAL-RT and other real-time simulation platforms.

3. DURATION
The scholarship will last 6 months, starting in July of 2025, and may be renewable for periods of 6 months, according to the objectives of the project and its budget, up to the limit established in the legislation, to be carried out on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the regulations for advanced training of human resources of the Foundation for Science and Technology and ISEP.

4. OBJECTIVES OF ACTIVITIES / WORKPLAN
The work plan will be executed on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the Research Grants Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019 and the Research Grants Regulation of ISEP.
The work plan will be integrated into the SATCOMM project and involves the following tasks:
• Design, adaptation, implementation and integration of applications or computational models, according to the needs of the project where the scholarship is inserted;
• Testing and validation of applications or models using realistic case studies, laboratory prototypes, and implementation in pilots, according to the needs of the project where the scholarship is included;
• Active participation in meetings within the scope of the scholarship, with the supervisor and team of the research group, and, if applicable, within the scope of the project in which the scholarship is included;
• Collaboration on scientific articles, project deliverables, or scientific reports;
• Preparation and delivery to the supervisor of the requested reports on the activities carried out within the scope of the scholarship, including the final activity report;
• Provision of all data, models, software source code, diagrams and figures used, prepared and developed within the scope of the scholarship, as well as the manuals necessary for their use.

5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATION
Research Fellow Statute, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of August 18; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation No. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of the Official Gazette, of December 16, 2019, Regulation of Research Grants of ISEP, Decree-Law No. 66/2018, published in the Official Gazette No. 157/2018, Series I of August 16, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas granted by foreign higher education institutions and Decree-Law No.

6. SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION AND WORKPLACE
The work will be developed at ISEP, located at Rua Dr. António Bernardino de Almeida, 431, 4200-072 Porto – Portugal, in the facilities used by the projects in which the work is framed, under the scientific guidance of Professors João Soares and Sérgio Ramos.

7. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
Monthly grant amount: 1 851,00 € paid by bank transfer (according to the FCT fee table: https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.p… ), supported through PADs no. C68537 and C68538.

8. METHODS OF SELECTION AND COMPOSITION
The selection method will take into account the candidate's merit, classified according to their suitability to the conditions of this competition, analyzed through the following components:
• Curriculum and Document Analysis (70%);
• Analysis of Candidate Motivation (30%).
The interview may be requested for all admitted candidates to better assess the candidate's motivation and may be conducted, at the request of one of the parties, in English.
The jury responsible for the selection process will be composed of:.

• Professor Doctor, Sérgio Filipe Carvalho Ramos (Member);
• Dr. Tayenne Dias de Lima (Member),
• and as alternate member Doctor Fernando Lezama Cruzvillasante (Alternate member).

9. FORM OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be formalized by email sent to jan@isep.ipp.pt with acknowledgement to scr@isep.ipp.pt and tdl@isep.ipp.pt, by sending the following documents:
a) Letter of Motivation;
b) Detailed Curriculum Vitae, including address and telephone and email contacts;
c) Copy of civil, tax and, where applicable, social security identification document(s);
d) Document proving the country of residence, residence permit or other legally equivalent document, where applicable, valid on the start date of the scholarship, with this condition only being verified at the scholarship contracting stage;
e) Documents of a scientific or technical nature of which he/she is the author and which allow the evaluation of the candidate's previous activities and results relevant to the respective application;
f) Proof of academic qualifications held by the candidate;
g) Other documents that the candidate considers relevant.

If the qualification was granted by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be complied with until the time of hiring.

10. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications will be accepted from June 18 to July 3, 2025.

11. FORM OF PUBLICATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
The evaluation results will be published by email, to the email address indicated in the registration process..

12. COMPLAINT AND APPEAL PROCEDURES
If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the publication of the results of the evaluation of applications, to express their opinion, if they wish, in a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.

The final decision referred to in the previous paragraphs may be appealed to the President of ISEP within 15 working days after the respective notification.

13. SELECTION RESERVATION
ISEP reserves the right to appeal to candidates not selected, in order of classification, to hire a scholarship holder within the scope of the same project due to the withdrawal of the initially selected candidate.
