Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships in Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology at the University of Liverpool 

The University of Liverpool’s School of the Arts invites expressions of interest for the 2025 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme. With the UK’s full association to Horizon Europe, the UK is now eligible to host fellows as an Associated Country and receive funding directly from the European Commission. The MSCA fellowships offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers who wish to gain experience in other countries, acquire new skills through advanced training and develop their careers. 

The University of Liverpool is one of the United Kingdom’s leading research institutions with an annual turnover of over £600 million, including £113 million for research. Liverpool is ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group, comprising the leading research universities in the UK. 

The Liverpool School of Architecture was established in 1894. The University was the first in the UK to award a RIBA accredited degree in Architecture. Today, as one of the UK’s premier centres for architectural research and education, we are proud of our long tradition and position in the world of Architecture, both nationally and internationally.

Our world-leading research spans across the Architectural Humanities, Heritage, Environment, Digital Culture, and Design Practice, encompassing a range of subjects including:

• Community-centred design, pedagogy, practice and planning
• Visual arts and digital technology
• Building science and acoustics
• Sustainability, health and material ecologies
• Architectural history, heritage and heritage management
• Housing, urban form and social space

The School forms part of the School of the Arts, one of the four Schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School also includes the departments of Communications and Media, English, Music and Philosophy.

Those interested in applying for a MSCA Fellowship at the University of Liverpool should identify a potential supervisor in their chosen Department and contact them to discuss their project and ensure the identified supervisor is happy to support them. 

Candidates should then work with their supervisor to prepare an Expressions of Interest (EoI), using the appropriate EoI template available on this Faculty webpage. Only EoIs completed on the adequate University of Liverpool EoI template will be accepted. This should be submitted to hssrke@liverpool.ac.uk by Wednesday, 14th May 2025. A Faculty-level selection panel will compile a shortlist of candidates, and all candidates and their supervisors will be informed of the panel’s decision by Friday, 13thJune 2025. Selected candidates will be supported with the further development of their application.
