Project Title

OPUS 22 LAP (K/NCN/000085), “Effect of nanoscale, three-dimensional arrangement of proteins on biological and Therapeutic activity (FIT)”

Project description

Are you passionate about pioneering research in biological nanomachines?

Funded by the prestigious National Science Centre in Poland, this exciting research aims to design programmable synthetic nanoparticles with unprecedented capabilities.

As a post-doctoral researcher, you will be responsible for designing, producing, and characterizing advanced synthetic nanocages. The core objective of this work is to generate nanoparticles with groundbreaking applications in receptor capture and cell penetration.

The post will be based at the Malopolska Centre of Biotechnology, in the beautiful city of Krakow, Poland. Opportunities for travel to the newly established Centre for Programmable Matter in Durham, UK, are also anticipated.

Scope of duties

according to the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University Annex 1 to the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University – Model scopes of responsibilities and duties of academic teachers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leverage advanced biochemical techniques and cutting-edge design tools, including deep learning methods, to craft and evaluate synthetic nanocage structures,
  • Study the 3-D arrangement of specific protein binders on a designed synthetic cage, delving deeper to understand potential interactions with the target receptors,
  • Utilise state-of-the-art equipment to analyse biophysical characteristics of designed nanocages, both before and after binding to target receptors,
  • Collaborate with leading researchers from across Europe, including colleagues in the UK and Slovenia,
  • Prepare high-level conference reports and scientific publications to present your research outputs,
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to less experienced members of the team, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment.
