Our goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms that drive cell-cell communication in aggressive childhood cancers, with a specific focus on the role of the UNC5 interaction network in the pathogenesis of neuroblastoma (NB) and other pediatric tumours. We will employ a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing cell-based assays, profiling experiments (eg. high resolution mass spectrometry proteomics), and structure-based tools to target specific protein complexes in vitro and in vivo. This is a collaborative ERC Synergy project with other labs from the University of Oxford and Lyon.

The candidate will join Daniel del Toro's lab, which comprises three PhD students and is supported by one technician, along with rotating students. The lab is located in the Biomedicine Department at the Faculty of Medicine (Campus Clinic) of the University of Barcelona.

Gross salari per year: 40,500 €.

The application period is from 15 May to 4 June 2025.

Hold a PhD in Neurodevelopment or cancer biology or a closely related research field.

Specific Requirements
  • Experience in molecular biology, omics techniques and cell culture. Proteomic experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with processing tissue samples, including sample preparation, use of cryostat or vibratome, and immunofluorescence staining.
  • Experience in imaging acquisition and analysis (e.g., ImageJ, Cell Profiler).
  • Familiar with the analysis of omics data (e.g. R, Python)
  • Experience with animal experimentation, expertise in in utero electroporation is a plus.
  • Excellent English skills in speaking, writing, and presenting scientific data.
