Staff scientists are excellent scientists that love to work in research, solve problems but do not want yet to become PIs or lead their own research teams. They have to be able to provide the continuity and know-how for the group, support all the scientists in the group and be the support for the PI in running the group, especially when the PI is travelling or unavailable.

Scope of duties

according to the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian UniversityAnnex 1 to the Work Regulations of the Jagiellonian University – Model scopes of responsibilities and duties of academic teachers.

Requirements

The selection procedure is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:

holding at least a doctoral degree;
having relevant scientific achievements;
taking active part in scientific life

Desirable skills:

Biophysics
Structural biology

Additional Requirements:

PhD in Biological Sciences or closely related subjects
Fluent in Polish and English
Demonstrated skill across a broad field of biochemistry and molecular biology, including protein expression purification and experimental assays
Ability to learn new techniques quickly
Strong team player
Seeking solutions to problem
Resilience and staying calm even in difficult situations
Excellent communication skills both at the scientific level and interpersonal level

statement under Article 113 of the Law on higher education and science
statement on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University
