Job Title: Senior Postdoctoral Researcher (Clinical Data Analyst)
Department: School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences & FutureNeuro
Reporting to: Dr Rob Argent / Dr Valeria Lima Passos
Location: RCSI St Stephen’s Green
Contract/Duration: Specified Purpose Contract - Full-time, up to 6 months (March 2026)
Remuneration: Up to Point 4 on the Experienced Post Doctorate Researcher IUA Scale

About Our Research

Summary of Post
This Senior Postdoctoral Researcher position will be based in RCSI’s main St Stephen’s Green campus, under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr Rob Argent and a wider project team. The appointee will work as an integral part of a neurology research team investigating the use of non-invasive digital measures in the diagnosis and long-term monitoring of patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This project follows a cohort of patients with MS with a dataset of measures at regular intervals including traditional clinical tests and new digital assessments. The successful candidate will have responsibility to conduct all aspects of the data management and analysis of this project and publication preparation within this project. This will include assisting with project management and coordination, data management and analysis, and attendance to relevant meetings. Training on the study protocol and measures will be provided alongside support from experienced researchers in neurology and digital health. Dynamic, flexible applicants with strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills are invited to apply for this position.
Specifically, the duties of the post are:
- Analytics: Ensure data accuracy and consistency through cleaning and transformation to prepare for data analysis.
- Stakeholder engagement: Work closely with clinical, academic and industry partners in the research team to align data analysis and interpretation with project goals.
- Project management: Oversee the timeline and deliverables of data analysis of the project, ensuring milestones are met and aligned with the broader project objectives.
- Assist in literature review and preparation of papers for peer-reviewed publications, reports/policy briefs and presentations to stakeholders
- Compliance and ethics: Manage and oversee all aspects of data privacy and security in line with GDPR and other relevant regulations
- Disseminate results of the research at scientific meetings and through other channels.
Person Specification:
- PhD in a discipline with a quantitative background, including statistics, data science, health science, epidemiology or a related areas.
- Experience in data management and analysis, preferably with health data or in a clinical setting.
- Strong technical skills in statistical programming, including with R, Python or other software for interrogating data.
- Ability to apply advanced statistical techniques/tools for data visualisation and analysis (e.g., Reliability analysis, Factor Analysis, Mixed-effects model, ROC curve).
- Proven track record of managing data in compliance with GDPR and other data protection standards.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using statistical software.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment.
- Ability to ensure that project plans are communicated and that all timelines are met.
- Self-starter with the ability to work effectively as part of a team; shares work and information; establishes rapport, can influence and develop effective networks.
- Has a pro-active approach to work, anticipating and resolving problems in advance; has keen attention to detail, from anticipating and addressing issues in advance to understanding requests and delivering quality work with minimal errors.
- Flexibility: can operate flexibly within a busy environment, can shift focus when required
