The candidate will work within the FARE (Fractionnement des AgroRessources et Environnement) research unit (https://www6.nancy.inra.fr/fare/) on a project funded by the International Institute for Bioeconomy and Environment EXEBIO at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (https://www.exebio.fr).

The FARE joint research unit conducts part of its research activities in the field of biological transformation of plant biomass and lignin using microorganisms and enzymes.

The successful candidate will carry out their experimental activities within the joint research unit and in close collaboration with the project partners.

The postdoctoral researcher will work on the development of bacterial communities for lignin valorisation.

He or she will be required to :

1. implement approaches for monitoring different microbial populations by cytometry and molecular analysis;
2. study the enzyme production dynamics of the most interesting populations through proteomic and metabolomic analyses;
3. apply the enzymes produced in the presence of lignin and analyse the transformation of substrates and the release of molecules of interest.

Main tasks :

• Construction of synthetic bacterial communities
• Population analysis by cytometry
• Screening of populations of interest (microfermentation and quantification of enzyme activity at medium and high throughput, substrates analysis by spectroscopy, chemical composition, etc.)
• Proteomic and metabolomic analysis
• Literature review in the field of activity
• Analysis of results and communication with various partners
