The Geography Department and the GEMOTT research group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) are offering a fully funded two-year postdoctoral position within the ATRAPA ERC project.
The activities will be linked to ERC project ATRAPA – Active Travel Backlash Paradox, in particular within the WP3 dedicated to electoral analysis. The main objective is to investigate the political consequences of urban interventions oriented towards sustainable mobility (superblocks, cycle lanes, low emission zones and other proximity policies). The analysis will combine electoral data at a very disaggregated scale with spatial indicators of urban transformation (iBESTI index) to test the project hypotheses.

Job position requirements (skills/languages/required experience)

PhD related to geography, social sciences, environmental sciences, political science or economics. Expertise in urban planning and statistical analysis, proficiency in English (additional European languages are a plus), and a demonstrated track record in mobility research and collaborative project work.

The postdoctoral researcher will be tasked with the following activities:

•Collection, harmonization and analysis of electoral data at the level of census tracts and other territorial units.
•Development and application of causal inference techniques (difference-in-differences, propensity score matching, multilevel models) to estimate the electoral effects of urban interventions.
•Integration of spatial (GIS) and socioeconomic data with urban transformation indicators (iBESTI).
•Writing of scientific articles in high-impact international journals and participation in specialized conferences in urban economics, transport and political sciences.
•Coordination with the rest of ATRAPA teams and work packages, ensuring methodological coherence and compliance with the project objectives.
•Knowledge transfer and preparation of materials for the scientific and informative dissemination of the results.

Benefits

38.000 € gross annual salary flexible work-time, 37,5h/week
