Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Postdoc at the Department of Organization with a focus on imaginaries, time and politics. The position hasa duration of 2 years, with the option for an additional third year of teaching. The candidate is expected to start on 1 January 2026 or later.

The Postdoc is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new research project titled “The Politics of Time – Navigating Conflicting Imaginaries,” led by Miriam Feuls (PI) at the Centre for Organization and Time. The project, funded by The Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF), explores how and when imaginaries shape collective action toward climate change solutions, how they are collectively constructed and negotiated among multiple actors, and how they impact societal transformation. Empirically, the research will focus on interactions among companies, civil society, and state actors to address plastic pollution. Situated within organization and management theory, the project aims to advance our understanding of the politics of time and contribute insights to Denmark’s green transition. The Postdoc candidate should have substantial training in organization studies, sociology, or a related field. The project is based on in-depth qualitative research methods (ethnographic methods and discourse analysis). The position requires experience with these methods, particularly (participant) observations and interviewing. Relevant areas of expertise include organization and management theory, organization and time research, and the study of futures and imaginaries. Research expertise in power dynamics and politics is also beneficial, as well as in sustainability research. The work involves close collaboration with the PI.

The Department of Organization (IOA) pursues a problem-oriented, business in society approach to understandingandinterveninginorganizationsandorganizationallife.Ourresearchisfocusedupon organizingprocessesandtheiroutcomesandmotivatedbyaninterestinorganizationand managementasapractical,situated,contestedandchangingmatter.Ourapproachis interdisciplinaryandcombinessocial-scientifictraditionssuchasorganizationtheory,sociology, ethnography, political economy, and social psychology. Methodologically, our research is predominantly qualitative and often involves case study and fieldwork methodology.

TeachingresponsibilitiesoftheDepartmentcompriseundergraduateandgraduateteachingaswell asteachinginpost-experienceanddoctoraleducation.

Tofulfilltheresearchrequirementsoftheposition,theapplicantchosenisexpectedtobephysically presentonaregularbasisandactivelyparticipateintheteachingandresearchactivitiesofthe Department.

Qualifications
TheapplicantmustholdaPhDortheequivalent.Inassessingapplications,particularemphasiswillbe placedonresearchpotential.Emphasisisplacedonresearchrelevanttothejobdescription.

The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken). Since the fieldwork will focus on organizational actors active in Denmark’s green transition, proficiency in Danish is beneficial but not required for this position.
