The Arthropod Disease Vector Biology lab (https://www.imbb.forth.gr/en/research), headed by Dr. Michail Kotsyfakis, invites applications for one post-doctoral research associate position to work on the funded EU HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2024-01-two-stage project entitled: “Resilience Enhancement for Ticks and Tick-Borne Diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa” (Acronym: ResTick).

Job Description: We are looking for a motivated post-doctoral research associate with a background in biology to join a project applying molecular biology techniques to characterize the expression profiles and functional properties of molecules involved in tick-virus-host interactions at various stages of tick feeding and infection.

About the Lab and Position: The successful candidate will be expected to join a multidisciplinary group composed of chemists and biologists. They will collaborate on innovation-driven research, contribute to supervision of junior researchers, participate in dissemination activities, and develop grant-writing and scientific communication skills.

About the Project: The project investigates the ecological dynamics of zoonotic viruses, especially CCHFV and Hyalomma spp. ticks. It explores how viruses interact with vectors, hosts, and environmental conditions across regions and climate scenarios.

- Role of migratory birds in viral spread
- Virome association analysis
- Modeling of virus-vector ecology under climate change scenarios
