We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join the ToxEMAC laboratory (ABTE, EA4651) at the University of Caen Normandy, Caen, France, for postdoctoral research under the supervision of Professor Siamak Haghdoost. This opportunity is part of the DOSELIA project, which is funded by the EU funded PIANOFORTE project.

Description

There is still limited understanding of the levels and mechanisms underlying severe late health effects associated with radiotherapy. Within the framework of the DOSELIA project, under the task “Modeling Biological Effects”, the appointed researcher will carry out a comprehensive review of published biological evidence and mechanistic models, with a particular focus on carcinogenesis during the initiation and promotion phases. The results of this review will be synthesized and prepared for publication.

The review will address a broad range of biological effects and influencing factors, including:

• Survival rate
• Genetic susceptibility
• Mutation induction and spectra
• Proliferation rate and DNA damage
• Total dose, dose fractionation, and dose rate
• Irradiated volume and dose gradients in tissues
• Radiation quality (e.g., photons, protons, neutrons) and relative biological effectiveness (RBE)

The responsability of the applicant include carrying out the described research project, supervising students and joining different scientific activities in the laboratory.

Research Fields
