We offer two part-time positions to carry out tasks in the project:

Effective rendering of 3D objects using Gaussian Splatting in an Augmented Reality environment

First Team, 2. Enhancing research and innovation, The European Funds for Smart Economy 2021–2027 (FENG).

Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) have demonstrated the remarkable potential of neural networks to capture the intricacies of 3D objects. By encoding the shape and color information within neural network weights, NeRFs excel at producing strikingly sharp novel views of 3D objects. Recently, numerous generalizations of NeRFs utilizing generative models have emerged, expanding its versatility. In contrast, Gaussian Splatting (GS) offers a similar render quality with faster training and inference as it does not need neural networks to work. It encodes information about the 3D objects in the set of Gaussian distributions that can be rendered in 3D similarly to classical meshes. The grant's goal is: Effective rendering of 3D objects using Gaussian Splatting in an Augmented Reality environment.

Working time Part-time employment (1/2). Planned duration of employment 12 months (with possibility of extension).

Skills/Qualifications

  • - Proven track record of publications in computer graphics, generative models, or deep learning for 3D objects;
  • - Proficient programming skills in Python, with experience in scientific libraries such as PyTorch;
  • - Strong understanding of artificial intelligence methods, especially neural rendering;
  • - Familiarity with neural rendering, e.g. Gaussian Splatting;
  • - Proficiency in English;
  • - Practical experience working in a research team.

Specific Requirements

The selection procedure is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 165 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
