Based on previous work, the postdoctoral researcher will study the technological maturity of previously developed solutions. His or her main task will be to improve the reliability of the techniques and computer codes used to extract the dielectric properties of characterized materials and to transfer them to an existing hyperfrequencies (HF) characterization bench at the technoligical center CISTEME.


As this bench is semi-automated, he or she will, with the support of CISTEME's technical staff, assist in the effective deployment of these techniques on this bench. Part of the tasks entrusted will involve developing computer codes (Matlab language), controlling the robotic axes of the HF measurement bench, collecting measurement data and extracting from it the dielectric properties of the materials tested as well as related statistical data (mean, standard deviation, etc.). Once the solution has been deployed, the successful candidate will be required to write clear operating procedures for its use and will help to train technical staff in its use.


The research activities will cover several areas: electromagnetic (hyperfrequencies) modeling/simulation of the characterization device, development of computer codes (Matlab language) to extract the dielectric characteristics of the tested materials from microwave measurements, computerized control of a measurement bench and a VNA, microwave measurement using specific instruments (VNA, probe station).


The work will therefore be carried out in two locations: the Xlim site, Faculty of Sciences and Technology (Limoges) with periods of work at CISTEME (Ester Technopole, limoges) in the presence of technical staff from this transfer center.


Skills/Qualifications

Key skills: RF circuits measurement (VNA, GSG probe station), characterization of dielectric materials in the microwave domain (complex permittivity and permeability), hyperfrequencies simulation (HFSS, CST, ADS), modelisation and design of microwave passive components, code development (Matlab especially).


Specific Requirements

PhD in microwave engineering.

The postdoc will work in a joint project with academics (Xlim research institute, University of Limoges) and technicians/engineers from the center of technological transfer CISTEME (Limoges). He/she will work in a stimulating environement bringing academic development to a pre-industrial activity.

According to French legislation, the applicant must have received a PhD degree no later than three years before the beginning of the contract
