IMDEA Energy is opening a Postdoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrochemical Processes Unit looking for talented and motivated candidates, to work on research and development of electrochemical energy storage devices for forward operating bases.


The selected postdoctoral researcher shall develop R&D activities in the field of batteries for microgrid applications. Such activities will involve at least:


Tasks Description:

  • • Testing of battery cells and/or modules in controlled environment.
  • • Development of models to diagnose and predict battery performance and ageing.
  • • Participation in national and international research projects related with energy storage and its integration in microgrids of forward operating bases.
  • • Communicate and disseminate research results through high-quality scientific channels including high impact scientific publications, presentations in conferences, etc.
  • • Supervision of undergraduate and graduate staff working in the R&D unit.

Skills/Qualifications

  • • A PhD title in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry or related disciplines.
  • • Experience in preparation and characterization of materials and/or components for electrochemical energy storage devices.

Specific Requirements

  • • Solid R&D background in batteries or other electrochemical storage devices: materials synthesis and characterization, components manufacturing, cell prototyping and testing.
  • • International R&D experience.
  • • Remarkable track record of scientific publications.
  • • Oral and written communication skills in English.

Benefits

  • • Remuneration: Between 39.000€ – 42.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
  • * The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
  • • Contract: Until the end of the project - January 2027

  • • Adequacy of the candidate's training and experience to the requested profile.
  • • Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
  • • Knowledge of English.
  • • Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
