Call open for applications for a postdoctoral research grant under the UID/00147 funding of the SYSTEC Research Unit - Centre for Systems and Technologies - financed by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P./ MECI, through national funds, under the following conditions:

Admission Requirements:
Candidates who cumulatively meet the following requirements may apply for this grant:
Requirement 1:
- 1. Hold a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Materials Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field, awarded within the three years preceding the application to this grant;
- 2. The Post-doctoral research is carried out in a host entity other than the one where the research work that led to the award of the PhD degree was developed.
- 3. Do not exceed, with this scholarship contract, including renewals, an accumulated period of three years in this type of scholarship, followed or interpolated.
If the degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August, and any formalities established therein must be completed by the time of hiring.
Work Plan:
The work to be developed falls within the activities of the Cyber-Physical Control Systems and Robotics Laboratory (C2SR) of SYSTEC – Research Center for Systems & Technologies, aiming at the development and integration of innovative solutions for automation and monitoring of cyber-physical systems applied to plant production in controlled environments. The fellow will be integrated into the laboratory team, collaborating closely with the researchers and supporting the development of monitoring and automation solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and robustness of cultivation processes.
Main tasks:
- • Development and analysis of control algorithms for autonomous and cyber-physical systems, including nonlinear and hybrid dynamical systems, with stability and performance guarantees.
- • Design and implementation of control strategies for motion planning, stabilization, and obstacle avoidance in dynamic and uncertain environments.
- • Integration of control-theoretic approaches with learning-based methods to enhance adaptability and performance while preserving formal guarantees.
- • Implementation and experimental validation of the proposed methods, including hardware-in-the-loop and real-world experimental testing on robotic or unmanned platforms.
- • Participation in the preparation of scientific publications, technical reports, and dissemination activities, contributing to national and international research outputs.

Workplace:
The work will be carried out at the ISR-Porto facilities, on the FEUP campus, under the scientific supervision of Professor Dr. António Pedro Rodrigues de Aguiar.
Duration of the Fellowship and Work Regime:
The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, with a planned start in January 2025, on exclusive basis regime, eventually renewable, up to the maximum of 3 years but not exceeding the end of the project.
If it is not possible to ensure the duration of 12 months estimated in the previous paragraph, this duration will be adjusted according to the end date of the project, and provided that the minimum duration of 3 consecutive months is guaranteed, in accordance with paragraph 6 of article 7 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P.
