The aim of this work is to develop polymer/gold nanowire composite films and test their structural and electrical properties for use as photovoltaic electrodes. The idea is to induce nanowire aggregation within a polymer matrix using an optical beam confinement method. This aggregate will constitute a proof of concept for new metallic electrodes directly printed within a host material using a technique similar to 3D printing. The first step will be to synthesize the nanowires in the UCCS laboratory in Lens. These structures will then be dispersed in a colloidal solution. The thermophoresis step, during which the nanowires will be assembled, will be carried out using a dedicated optical bench.



The investigative methods subsequently implemented in the project will be designed to monitor the effective aggregation of the nanowires, particularly in terms of electrical conductivity. The electrodes will be characterized by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray microfluorescence spectrometry (UCCS, Artois) to verify their dimensional and structural quality.
The fabricated electrodes will then be tested to characterize their electrical charge transport properties (mobility, conductivity, and charge density measurements) using electrical characterization techniques available at UDSMM laboratory in Dunkerque.


Skills/Qualifications

Chemical synthesis of nanoparticles with appropriate ligands, UV-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy.

Experience with charge transfer measurements
