Summary: There is an open call for one (1) Research Scholarship (“Bolsa de Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project ALBATROZ - OCSN. This work is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Innovation and Digital Transition Programme (COMPETE 2030) of the Portugal 2030 framework [Project ALBATROZ with Nr. 17775 (COMPETE2030-FEDER-01335900)].

Work Objectives: Main objectives: 1) to develop optimized interfaces between the PON-based fiber distribution network and indoor wireless access based on the use of visible light communications (VLC). 2) contribute to the development of novel high-capacity PON architecture, including 50G-PON and coherent 100/200G PON. 3) optimization of VLC-based wireless access, employing advanced multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) processing strategies, aiming at end-user data-rates exceeding 50 Gbps. 4) reporting of the carried out activities in the form of project deliverables and journal/conference publications.

Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Pedro Pereira Guiomar.

Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of scholarship has a maximum duration of 4 years. Start date: February 2026 or soon thereafter.
