The successful candidate will join the Laboratory of Experimental Micromechanics within the Division of Mechanics of Materials at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPPT PAN). The position involves conducting advanced experimental research on the mechanical and tribological behavior of materials at micro- and nanoscales, with a focus on establishing structure–property relationships in advanced structural materials.

The main responsibilities include mechanical characterization using nanoindentation and micromechanical testing techniques (e.g., microbending, micropillar compression, and in-situ testing in a scanning electron microscope), as well as microstructural analysis using electron and scanning probe microscopy (SEM/EBSD/AFM). The research will cover advanced materials such as composites, high-entropy alloys, and functional or tribological coatings, including materials modified by surface engineering or advanced processing routes.

The candidate will design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret results, and correlate mechanical and tribological properties with microstructure and residual stress state. The role also includes preparation of scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals, participation in national and international research projects, and contribution to the development of experimental methodologies and laboratory capabilities.
