Skills/Qualifications

Profile of candidates/requirements:

The candidate must meet the criteria specified in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571 with amendments) and the art 119 of the Statutes of the University of Warsaw

• PhD degree in physics awarded at least on the day of the deadline for this call, but not later than five years before the call deadline. The PhD degree should be obtained in a country of the EU, EFTA, OECD, or nostrified on the date of employment at the latest1

• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Polish is a plus

• Significant scientific achievements, proven by being

- a corresponding author of at least one paper in journals awarded 200 points by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland according to the list available at https://www.gov.pl/web/nauka/komunikat-ministra-nauki-z-dnia-05-styczni…

- A co-author of at least six papers in journals awarded at least 100 points by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland according to the list available at https://www.gov.pl/web/nauka/komunikat-ministra-nauki-z-dnia-05-styczni…

• Experience in the implementation of research projects with excellent theoretical & numerical techniques:

- acting as co-investigator

- applying Non-Gaussian State Ansatz (NGSA), proven by a publication track record

- applying Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG), proven by a publication track record

- Numerical implementation of DMRG and NGSA in Python or Julia programming languages, proven by a git repository

- Multi-paradigm programming in Julia and Python programming, proven by a git repository

- Quantum strongly correlated many-body systems, proven by a publication track record

- Conducting theoretical research for light-matter interfaces in atomic and condensed matter systems, as proven by a publication track record

• Openness to internal and external collaborations

• Maximum commitment to all projects at UW and other units may not exceed 276h monthly.

• During the interview, the candidate presents a plan for further research activities and international experience.
