The research group Chromosomal Instability and Therapy Response at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas Alberto Sols (CSIC-UAM) is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF).

The group investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying tumour evolution, chromosomal instability, cancer stem cell maintenance, and therapeutic resistance in gastrointestinal malignancies, with a particular focus on gastric and pancreatic cancer.

The host laboratory combines mechanistic cancer biology with advanced translational and preclinical platforms, including patient-derived organoids (PDOs), gastric mucosoid models, patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), and experimental metastasis models. The group maintains active collaborations with clinicians, biobanks, and international research centres, providing access to patient-derived samples, clinically relevant preclinical models, and state-of-the-art technologiess for studying tumour evolution, therapeutic response, and resistance mechanisms. These unique resources offer excellent opportunities for developing innovative and clinically relevant research projects.

The successful candidate will develop an independent research project aligned with one or more of the following research areas:

• • Chromosomal instability and tumour evolution. 
• • Mechanisms of therapeutic resistance. 
• • Cancer stem cell biology and tumour plasticity. 
• • Cellular senescence and tumour microenvironment. 
• • Development and preclinical evaluation of innovative therapeutic strategies, including metal-based anticancer compounds, targeted therapies, and combination approaches.. 
• • Organoid, patient-derived xenograft (PDX), and advanced 3D cancer models. 
• • Precision oncology and translational medicine. 
• • Multi-omics approaches for biomarker discovery. 
• • Inflammation-driven tumour initiation and host-pathogen interactions in gastric cancer.

The project will benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities and established national and international collaborations, including leading groups in cancer biology, organoid technologies, and translational oncology.

Candidates are encouraged to propose innovative and ambitious research projects that complement and expand the group's current research activities.
