The researcher will work as part of a team of biologists and computer scientists at the ENS in Lyon to investigate the role of actin in directing cell division in the root meristem of plants.

The researcher will combine methods from biology and molecular genetics (cloning, plant genetic transformation, genotyping, phenotypic analysis, etc.) with synthetic biology to investigate how the actin cytoskeleton regulates the orientation of cell division in the root meristem of Arabidopsis thaliana. In particular, he or she will develop new tools and methodologies to modify actin dynamics in a tissue-specific manner. He or she may use imaging and/or single-cell genomics approaches to analyze the impact on transcriptional responses during organogenesis. He/she will use standard software—and, if necessary, software developed at the RDP laboratory in collaboration with the team—to analyze the imaging and genomic data he/she generates. He/she will actively participate in the design of experiments and carry them out independently.

The Plant Reproduction and Development Laboratory (RDP) in Lyon conducts basic research aimed at achieving a quantitative, multiscale understanding of the development and evolution of plant reproductive structures. To this end, the RDP laboratory draws on classical developmental biology approaches and internationally recognized expertise in systems biology, using multidisciplinary methods to investigate the molecular and physical bases of plant morphogenesis. Located on the Monod campus of the ENS Lyon, the RDP laboratory brings together 120 researchers across 9 research teams.
