The postdoctoral researcher will join an interdisciplinary team working on advanced interatomic potentials and multiscale modelling of helium effects in irradiated Fe–Cr alloys. 
The position focuses on computational materials science and atomistic simulations.

The successful candidate will contribute to density functional theory (DFT) calculations and the generation of high-quality atomistic datasets for the development of analytical bond-order potentials (ADP) and machine-learned interatomic potentials (MLIP). These datasets will include defect energetics, helium–defect interactions, binding energies, and clustering mechanisms.

The researcher will support large-scale molecular dynamics simulations by providing reference quantum-mechanical data, validating interatomic potentials, and analyzing atomic-scale defect configurations. They will also apply MLIP-based simulations to selected cases requiring high accuracy, such as helium clustering, defect evolution, and early-stage bubble formation.

Close collaboration with experimental and modelling teams is an integral part of the position to ensure consistent integration of quantum-mechanical, atomistic, and experimental approaches.
