The successful candidate will be involved in the WABIO project, carrying out research on the anaerobic digestion of microbial biomass generated through the biological valorization of the liquid fraction obtained after the hydrothermal carbonization of high-moisture organic waste. The role will also include activities aimed at optimizing the biological processing of the liquid fraction following hydrothermal carbonization, including the assessment and enhancement of its biogas production potential. Additional responsibilities will comprise research on the use of functionalized hydrochar in anaerobic digestion processes, optimization of the biological section of the biorefinery, and the analysis and interpretation of research data.

Daily responsibilities:

  • • conducting quantitative and qualitative studies on the efficiency of the hydrothermal treatment (HTT) of waste;
  • • carrying out research on the thermochemical functionalization of hydrochar produced through HTT;
  • • optimizing the HTT subsystem with semi-continuous substrate feeding and hydrochar functionalization processes.
