Technical support for CICA projects relating to the analysis of water or soil quality in the areas of food, pollution and health (*) 1 November 2026 31/12/2026 2 months 

Technical lead for the analyses covered by the ENAC accreditation dossier 725/LE1798 on the analysis of physico-chemical parameters in untreated inland waters: design of internal and external quality controls; review and analysis of the results obtained, taking the necessary decisions to ensure the analytical method remains within control parameters; and review of procedures and work instructions. Carrying out tasks relating to the maintenance of the status of Collaborating Entity with the Water Administration (ECAH) of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. (*) 01/11/2026 31/12/2026 2 months 

Technical support for CICA projects relating to the ENAC 725/LE1402 accreditation dossier for the determination of persistent organic pollutants by isotopic dilution and gas chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS) in agri-food products (CICA’s Food, Pollution and Health CICA): processing of analysis results and preparation of reports. (*) 1 November 2026 31/12/2026 2 months 

Development of new GC/MS and LC/MS methodologies to meet the new instrumental needs of researchers at the CICA (*):

 • PFAS and other contaminants in water by LC/MS. 

• Implementation of analytical techniques on an Orbitrap GC/MS using various solventless injection systems. 

• Development of analytical methods tailored to the researcher’s needs for CICA’s biomedicine programme1 November 2026 31/12/2026 2 months

Relationship with CICA researchers: scientific advice and clarification of queries regarding the tests they require. (*) 1 November 2026 31/12/2026 2 months 

*: These duties will be carried out for projects within the ‘Biomedicine’ and ‘Food, Pollution and Health’ research areas of CICA (Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry and Biology).

This contract is being advertised under the collaboration agreement between the Regional Ministry of Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities and the Universities of A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo for the Reinforcement of Staff for the Management of Technology Transfer and Innovation and the Consolidation of Research Structures 2023–2026. The purpose of this contract is to recruit a support technician for projects within the ‘Biomedicine’ and ‘Food, Pollution and Health’ research areas at CICA. The successful candidate will be responsible for activities such as: liaising with CICA researchers, providing scientific advice and addressing queries regarding the experiments they require. The workflow will include interviews with researchers to ascertain their needs, assessing the technical feasibility of the experiment and drawing up quotes for the requested work; developing new GC/MS and LC/MS methodologies to meet the evolving instrumental needs of CICA researchers; and assisting with the maintenance of ENAC accreditation files that guarantee the integrity of data from CICA’s “Biomedicine” and “Food, Pollution and Health” research areas. CICA. This is a centre with both national and international influence, which adheres to the standards of high-impact scientific publications, delivers innovative developments for businesses, and ensures that science reaches the public under the principle that ‘there is no science that is not communicated’. The centre has the laboratories and equipment necessary to carry out cutting-edge research, and we recognise that our future momentum is linked to attracting young researchers. One of CICA’s strengths is the interdisciplinary nature provided by chemistry and biology, which offer solutions for the three areas on which CICA focuses: nanoscience and advanced materials, biomedicine, and the pollution-health nexus. Furthermore, CICA receives instrumental support from the UDC’s Research Support Services (SAI). The analytical work covered by the contract will be carried out in the SAI’s laboratories in the Central Research Services Building (ESCI).
