PROJECT OVERVIEW AND JOB RESPONSABILITIES

The Mapping Actions for Regenerative Business Leadership across Sectors (MARBLES) project aims to gain a broad empirical understanding regarding regenerative business practices across various industries. Regenerative business is defined as business activities that enhance and thrive through the health of ecosystems in a co-evolutionary process. It is a novel business approach that aims to go beyond reducing negative impacts of business activities on ecosystems and their functioning. While much of the existing research on regenerative focuses on pioneering niche actors from sectors like agriculture or tourism, this proposal seeks a broader empirical foundation across sectors, including manufacturing, services, and others, to examine how broadly and deeply regenerative business practices are taken up by diverse industries. The empirical setting for this project is business in Europe. 

Methodologically, the project will draw on several methods and instruments, including data collection from corporate websites and reports (using web scraping tools), qualitative content analysis, as well as data collection through surveys and focus groups. 

The successful candidate will be expected to take the lead and assume the following responsibilities, in collaboration with the research team:

• • Design and implement data collection:
• - Define sample of companies to be included
• - Design and implement web scraping of company websites and reports, systematically processing the list of companies and gathering and storing data
• - Oversight of survey implementation, together with specialized survey company
• - Focus groups
• • Data analysis including
• - Analysis of survey data
• - Qualitative content analysis of company materials (sustainability reports, mission statements, blog posts, press releases) to extract and synthesize key themes, strategies, and methodologies from the collected materials, using Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and topic modeling
• • Autonomous management of data collection and analysis activities
• • Co-authorship of academic articles (including first authored publications) and a practitioner-oriented regenerative business guidebook
• • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the project
• • Organizing dissemination event
