The University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position as a post-doctoral researcher at the Jean Monnet Chair within the framework of the research project funded by the National Centre for Science (NCN)

Remuneration: gross annual before taxes, social security, health insurance and other derivatives: PLN 140,000 (monthly approx. PLN 8,986 gross).


The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in the Act of 20 July 2018. Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws 2018, item 1668 as amended) and the Statute of the University of Wroclaw.


General information

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in the project “The domestic politics of EU actions against democratic backsliding (DEUDEM)” led by prof. Aleksandra Maatsch. The project, which is funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), is part of a collaborative Weave project with partners in Germany (Bremen) and Austria (Salzburg). The project analyses how domestic factors – party positions and public opinion – affect the European Union’s ability to act effectively against democratic backsliding. The project is hosted at the Jean Monnet Chair, Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wroclaw.


Requirements

Applicants should have:

  1. a very good PhD in political science or a closely related discipline,
  2. strong methodological skills,
  3. excellent command of English, 
  4. reliability, and
  5. a research agenda that is broadly related to the project.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of an international team, collaborating on all theoretical and empirical aspects of the project, co-supervising student research assistants with two other postdocs in Bremen and Wrocław, and contributing to project publications, individually and with other project members.
