The Maritime University of Constanța announces the organization of a competition for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher, temporarily vacant, within the PNRR MAREHC project – “Maximizing the Renewable Energy Hosting Capacity of distribution networks”.

Project Purpose – MAREHC

The PNRR MAREHC project aims to increase the innovation capacity of the research, development, and innovation (RDI) system by attracting highly specialized human resources from abroad, around whom centers of research excellence will be formed.

General Objective:

The general objective of the PNRR project – Maximizing the Renewable Energy Hosting Capacity of distribution networks – is to support the national research and development system by attracting highly specialized human resources from abroad, around whom centers of excellence will be created and developed in cutting-edge scientific fields, contributing to the goals set in the National Strategy for Research, Innovation, and Smart Specialization.

Specific Objectives:

• Development and promotion of fundamental scientific research in Romania;
• Training of competent human resources and creation of research excellence groups;
• Increasing institutional capacity to absorb European funds;
• Stimulating international institutional partnerships;
• Increasing the number of internationally impactful publications and patents;
• Supporting and developing research teams for international competitiveness;
• Active involvement of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in building a career of excellence in Romanian scientific research;
• Encouraging researchers’ participation in EU’s Horizon Europe framework program competitions.

Estimated Results:

• Evaluation of energy consumption profiles for energy management;
• Topologies and conceptual models for energy storage systems;
• Development of a management system for storage devices;
• Stochastic optimization algorithms;
• Optimal trading strategies based on game theory;
• Procedures and reports on testing trading models in the energy market.

TASKS, SKILLS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Maintains hierarchical collaboration for proper project implementation;
• Carries out activities required for the implementation of the work plan objectives;
• Fulfills assigned tasks, ensuring efficient and prompt communication of technical and financial issues within the team;
• Ensures timely and proper completion of research activities;
• Participates in both theoretical and experimental research;
• Contributes to the development of articles and presentations for dissemination;
• Participates in mentoring PhD students to help them conduct high-level research and publish top-tier articles;
• Ensures that any publication or result generated from project-funded activities includes proper acknowledgment of the funding source and project contract number;
• Complies with ethical conduct in R&D activities, in accordance with Law no. 206/2004 on good conduct in scientific research, technological development and innovation, and other relevant ethics regulations in the research field of the project;
• Maintains confidentiality regarding all activities carried out within the work environment.

WORK CONDITIONS / LOCATION: No special ambient conditions. The workplace is located at the Maritime University of Constanța or other locations required by the project coordinated by the University.

Specific Requirements for the Temporary Postdoctoral Researcher Position:

• Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Automation, or related fields;
• Prior experience in research or in modeling and simulation of energy systems;
• Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink);
• Relevant scientific publications;
• Advanced English language skills. Advantages:
• Previous participation in international research projects;
• Knowledge of Python, R, DigSilent, or PowerFactory.

Other Position-Specific Information:

• Working time: part-time, maximum 80 hours/month, non-uniform;
• Salary: according to the project budget and applicable legislation;
• Employment period: Fixed-term, from April 7, 2025 to June 30, 2026.
