In accordance with § 94 Sec. 2 subpara. 1 of the 2002 Austrian Universities Act, the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the Johannes Kepler University Linz announces a faculty opening for a University Professor for Inorganic Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Polymer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a permanent professorship position under private law for a Professor for Inorganic Chemistryto begin immediately. The appointment is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities Act. An evaluation will be conducted after a five-year period.


We are looking for a scientist with an outstanding international record in the field of inorganic chemistry. The research focus should be on a timely topic in inorganic chemistry such as – but not limited to – bioinorganic chemistry, chemistry of main group elements and transition metals, computational chemistry, solid-state chemistry of functional materials (e.g. materials for hydrogen and energy technology), photochemistry. 


The position will be responsible for chemistry courses within the curricula Chemistry and Chemical Technology (CCT) and Management in Chemical Technology (MCT) as well as related curricula like Biological Chemistry and others.


The successful candidate is expected to represent and further develop the field of inorganic chemistry in research and teaching. Applicants for the position must have a venia docendi (habilitation degree) or a comparable post-doctorate qualification in the academic field. A salary above the minimum amount (which is currently 92,460.20 € before taxes) as stated in the collective agreement will be voluntarily offered.
