The Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) at Brno University of Technology (BUT) is pleased to announce a call for applications for its postdoc programme, open to early-career researchers and practising artists working in the expanded field of artistic research. The aim of the programme is to support recent PhD graduates in their transition to professional academic or artistic careers while contributing to the development of research and innovation at the faculty. The programme offers short-term employment opportunities through annually announced calls.

The current call invites applications for 2 full-time positions, with an anticipated start date of 1 October 2025, through 30 September 2026 (or according to agreement). Applicants who are interested in establishing cooperation with a specific department within the faculty (see the FFA Organigram), and/or finding an internal supervisor are welcome to contact the Coordinator of the FFA Research Centre, Zuzana Jakalová.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must have completed their doctoral studies (or have official confirmation that they will defend their PhD by September 2025) no more than 8 years (“maximum period”) prior to the date of application. Preference will be given to applicants who completed their PhD at:

  1. another institution (preferably abroad);
  2. BUT, provided that after completing their doctoral studies they held an employment relationship with a different employer for at least one year, carrying out professional work in art and/or design or related disciplines;
  3. BUT, provided that they completed a professional stay of at least one year at another institution (preferably abroad), of which at least six months were continuous.

The maximum period may be extended to account for any time spent on maternity or parental leave, long-term illness exceeding 90 days, or care for a person deemed dependent on assistance under the Czech Social Services Act.
