Position Summary

Applications are invited for the role of Post-Doctoral Researcher within of the School Applied Social Studies.

The RED project will develop innovative approaches to integrating the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into technology design practices and embedding rights into the design of Internet of Things (IoT), focusing specifically on applications in intellectual disability. Through co-creation approaches, the project will generate a participatory methods toolkit, quality standards and training resources to improve inclusive practices in research and innovation. The holder of this post will be a researcher in the social sciences or cognate area, with an interest in participatory approaches, who will work closely with Prof Eleanor Bantry White and collaborators within multiple disciplines including Computer Science and Information Technology. A core focus of the role will be participatory collaboration with people with lived experience of intellectual disability as co-researchers. The post-holder will be involved in each stage of the project including literature reviewing, participatory design with stakeholders, fieldwork and dissemination. The project team will collaborate closely with the ID+ Futures Project, also in the School of Applied Social Studies, colleagues in UCC’s ISS21 and Taighde Éireann CONNECT, to maximise impact in advancing inclusive research and innovation practices.

Salary: €45,847 - €52,339 per annum, (IUA PD1)
